Hendrik Axelsen head of section “Grid Integration and Storage System Analysis” with about twenty scientist and engineers, studied electrical engineering at RWTH Aachen University. He is working since five years at the institute.
He is a specialist for the design, management, simulation and construction of large scale grid connected battery storage systems in the range of several MW. This includes the development of control system software as well as the layout of control system hardware.
His research work is focused on energy management systems for hybrid battery storage systems in multi-use applications.
As head of the section “Grid Integration and Storage System Analysis” he is also responsible for projects regarding the grid integration of electric vehicle fleets and PV home storage systems as well as for various studies on technology, demand and economics of storage systems for grid integrated applications.
